Tata has launched a mid-level variant for its automatic variants of the Nexon. The XMA petrol and XMA diesel and are priced at Rs 7.53 lakhs and Rs 8.53 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi) respectively. As compared to the top spec XZA+ variants they are lesser by Rs 1.90 lakhs (petrol) and Rs 1.85 lakhs (diesel).
Based on the XM manual variants of the Nexon, the automatics have the same exterior and interior features with the only major changes being the AMT badging and AMT specific instrument cluster. This being an AMT model, the car gets smart hill assist and crawl function. Standard across the Nexon range are dual frontal airbags and ABS with electronic brake-force distribution for all wheels.
The petrol engine is a turbocharged 1.2-litre producing 108bp/170Nm while the diesel is a 1.5-litre unit producing 108bhp/260Nm. Both engine get a six-speed AMT or as Tata terms it ‘Hyper-Drive’ system.
The petrol powered Nexon AMT XMA variant is first of the mid-level offerings in the group of compact SUVs while the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza VDi AGS is priced at Rs 8.54 lakhs (Ex-showroom Delhi). This puts it on par in terms of pricing with the Nexon XMA diesel variant.
