Ahead of the Tata Nexoncar’s arrival in the Indian market, the brochure has been leaked revealing that this new compact SUV will be offered in four petrol and diesel variants with only a manual gearbox option for now. There will be five colour options for the range in total.
The variant options follow the standard Tata nomenclature but this compact SUV also introduces a new top-of-the-line XZ+ variant and this is the same car that we drove on the first drive review. The petrol engine is a 1.2-litre four-cylinder unit producing 108 bhp/170 Nm while the diesel is a 1.5-litre unit 108 bhp/ 260Nm. Both are offered only with a six-speed MT but we believe an AMT is also in the pipeline.
There is quite a bit of decent kit on the XZ+ variant like a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with floating display, climate control, three-tone interiors, split folding rear seats and reversing camera. The infotainment system with eight speakers is pretty detailed and offers a large list of mobile connectivity solutions. All variants get tilt adjust steering, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and driving modes.
Tata is going big with its SUV models and has loaded up this SUV with a lot of features and followed the same approach it had taken with the Hexa. We believe that Tata will price the Nexon in the range of Rs 6.5 lakhs to Rs 9 lakhs putting it on par with its competitors.
