A camouflaged test mule of the Tata Nexon was snapped on test in Maharashtra by our avid reader RohitGhodke. This time, the vehicle didn’t have the makeshift components but sported a production guise as it was showcased at the Auto Expo this year.
While the one displayed at the biennial event was in a blue shade, Tata had announced that they will offer a wide array of customisations including bits like coloured belt-line and upper grille. The Nexon rides on 16-inch alloy wheels, features a dual-path suspension and offers a ground clearance of 200mm. The cabin will boast of a 6.5-inch touchscreen entertainment system with an eight-speaker audio, steering-mounted controls, a drive-mode selector, automatic climate control and a multi-information display. Other features will include keyless entry with push button start, electrically-adjustable wing mirrors, projector headlights and LED tail lamps.
The Tata Nexon will be powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine. The oil-burner's 1.5-litre mill will be based on the all-new Revotorq family tuned to deliver 110bhp of power and 260Nm of torque. Transmission options will include a six-speed manual and the AMT (automated manual transmission) gearbox.
Tata's Nexon is expected to go up against the Maruti Suzuki VitaraBrezza when launched in India. We can expect it to go on sale during the festive season along with the Hexa and the Kite5 compact sedan.
