Tata’s Nexon compact SUV has been spotted testing outside Pune in near production guise indicating that the launch of this sub four-metre SUV is not too far away. The car was shown as a concept during the 2016 Auto Expo but most of the bits and bobs that were on the concept looked to be in production form.
Despite being camouflaged, we can see that the car was sporting the tail production ready tail lamps, bumpers, mirrors, door protectors and wheels. The car that was shown at the expo had a grey interior, familiar Tata bits and most importantly a free standing display for the infotainment system. We believe that this will be carried over to the final car when it is showcased later this year.
It is expected to be offered with the same 1.2-litre Revotron engine and the 1.3-litre Multijet diesel that powers a range of the current Tata models. Transmission options are expected to include a five-speed manual and possibly AMT for both petrol and diesel models.
When launched it will take on the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport and the Mahindra TUV300.
