Tata has launched their all new SUV, the Nexon with the price tag beginning at Rs 5.85 lakhs (Introductory ex-showroom Delhi). The sub-four metre compact SUV will be offered in four trims and two engine options with single as well as dual tone colour options.
Unlike its competitors, the Nexon adopts a rather modern styling approach with its curvy lines. The top-spec car gets a highlighted window-sill line to give it a modern touch. The tall stance and flared arches along with the slightly sloping roof give it a muscular yet suave look.
On the inside, the Nexon gets a three-tone interior along with climate control, touchscreen infotainment system with floating display and eight speakers, button start, rotary dial for drive mode selection and a 350-litre boot. The Harmann touchscreen infotainment system gets USB, Bluetooth and AUX connectivity. For safety, you have dual front airbags as standard while ABS is standard for the range.
The Tata Nexon is powered by a 1.2-litre inline four cylinder petrol engine producing 108bhp/170Nm while the diesel is a new 1.5-litre unit producing 108bhp/260Nm. Both engines are offered only with a six-speed manual transmission. Tata is already working on the AMT options and should offer them in the first quarter of 2018.
The Tata Nexon competes against the likes of the Ford Ecosport, the Honda WR-V and the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. Also included in the competition are the Mahindra TUV300 and the erstwhile Nuvosport.
