Tata is entering a new segment in the Indian market. This place is the compact SUV segment and its contender is the Nexon crossover which has been unveiled at the 2016 Auto Expo.
The car was shown in concept form at the 2014 Auto Expo and has now reached the production ready stage.
The car is charecterised by its high ground clearance, big wheels and chrome fascia. The roof is contrast coloured while the rear gets a large white stripe running below the glass.
The SUV nature of the vehicle has resulted in contrast coloured bash plates, pseudo bulbar element and lots of ride height.
The cabin is very similar to what we have been seeing in the recent range of Tata vehicles but now with the addition of a dash mounted touchscreen infotainment system.
It will be offered with the 1.2-litre petrol engine and 1.5-litre diesel mill. Both engines are expected to get a five-speed manual as standard and an AMT on one variant.
