The Nexon EV will be one of the electric cars lined up by Tata Motors in India. This time around, the latest spied images reveal the car’s junction box under the bonnet. The vehicle will be powered by a lithium-ion battery and could share its components with the Altroz EV. It is believed that the electric version will have a maximum driving range of around 250kms on a single charge.
Reports indicate that Tata Motors commenced trial production of the Nexon EV in April 2019. It is further believed that three prototypes have been built and the batteries can be recharged up to 80 per cent of their capacity in 60 minutes using a fast DC charger. Except for mild updates, visually the electric version of Nexon will appear identical to the regular combustion model.
There is no official announcement from the company about the launch for the Nexon EV. Apart from this, the Tigor EV which is currently limited to commercial use might be introduced for private buyers with an update. Currently, the Tigor EV gets a 16.2kWh battery pack which claims to offer a driving range of 140 km on a full charge. More details about the electric lineup from Tata Motors will be known in the days to come.
