- Featuring a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine
- Will look similar to petrol and diesel versions
The Nexon CNG was one of the major highlights at Tata Motors’ stand during the Bharat Mobility Show 2024. The CNG-powered version of the popular compact SUV will be launched in India in the coming months and will compete with the Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG.
The Nexon CNG will be powered by a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine. It is set to become the first turbo-petrol CNG vehicle to be sold in India. In petrol mode, the output is likely to remain unchanged at 118bhp and 170Nm. In CNG mode, it will make slightly less power and torque although at this point, the exact output is unclear.
The Maruti Suzuki Brezza CNG, on the other hand, is powered by a 1.5-litre K15C naturally aspirated petrol engine with a factory-fitted, single-cylinder CNG kit. The engine is paired to a five-speed manual gearbox and is tuned to produce 87bhp and 121Nm of peak torque. The Nexon, of course, gets a twin-cylinder CNG setup which is more space-efficient and liberates more boot space. The setup can hold 60 litres of gas with a usable boot space of approximately 230-litres.
