Tata had showcased an AMT (automated manual transmission) variant of the Nexon at the 2018 Auto Expo with the intention of launching it in the market later this year. It will be launched here in the top spec XZA variant and for the first time both in petrol and diesel engine options.
This is the fully loaded variant with features like the touchscreen system with floating display, climate control, drive modes and height adjustment for the driver’s seat. The AMT spec model will also debut a new orange shade that was on the display at the Tata stall. The diesel engine is a turbocharged 1.5-litre unit producing 108bhp/260Nm while the petrol is a 1.2-litre turbo unit producing 108bhp/170Nm. Both engines get a six-speed AMT unit as a part of the setup.
Considering the pricing of the Tiago and Tigor AMT as compared to their manual counterparts, there is a difference of Rs 40,000 to Rs 45,000 and we believe that the same will exist here with the Nexon XZ MT diesel/petrol and Nexon XZA diesel/petrol. It is also likely that a few months after the XZA variant is launched, Tata will also introduce a mid-level XTA petrol/diesel variant for the Nexon. Â
