Tata Motors is gearing up for a big line-up of displays at the 2018 Auto Expo. India’s biggest biennial platform will showcase Tata’s multiple new products including an X451 premium hatchback, the H5 crossover concept and probably a potent version of the Tigor. Apart from these, the automatic transmission variant of the newly-launched Nexon will also join the stage at the Expo.
Tata will offer the AMT choice on both petrol and diesel engines of the Nexon. The AMT will be based on the Nexon’s six-speed manual unit which does duties on both the engines at the moment. Looking at the other AMT offering in Tata’s portfolio, we expect the XTA and XZA trims to be offered with automatic transmission only. There won’t be any visual cue to differentiate the automatic crossover from its standard counterpart.
Currently, the updated Ford EcoSport is the only option available without the third pedal in the compact SUV segment. However, it is only offered with the petrol engine. The Nexon will become the only compact crossover to be offered with the diesel automatic when it debuts promptly after the Auto Expo. The Nexon AMT will surely undercut its direct rivals in terms of pricing.
