Tata showcased the Nano Twist Active as a pre-production concept at the Auto Expo in February this year. A test vehicle of the same which gets an openable boot lid was spotted testing recently and is expected to be launched early next year.
This revamped version of the Nano will get redesigned bumpers and tinted headlamp clusters. This Nano Twist Active will get the power steering from the Nano Twist and a much welcomed change of an openable boot lid. The current models of the Nano do not get this openable boot and this change will add to the convenience of consumers.
There will be revisions to the interiors as well. The new three-spoke steering wheel seen on the Zest might be introduced. The company will refresh the cabin of the Nano with new fabrics for the seats and wood finish on the centre console and other areas.
There will be no mechanical changes and the Nano Twist Active will be powered by the same 624cc twin-cylinder petrol engine that churns out 38bhp of power and 51Nm of torque. This mill comes mated to a four-speed manual transmission and power is sent to the rear wheels. However, Tata might equip one of the variant of the Nano with an automated manual transmission soon as seen on the Zest.
In all the current models of the Nano, the engine sits at the back and the boot is not openable. Now the company has redesigned the boot for more usable space and added to the convenience with the help of the openable boot lid. Tata plans to launch two models every year as part of the Horizonnext, since the Bolt is already scheduled for pre-Diwali launch, this version of the Nano will have to wait for the start of the New Year.
