The Tata Nano Twist with an openable boot was first shown to us at the 2014 Auto Expo and now test mules of the same have been spotted in Pune. This upcoming car's sightings have revealed that the car gets subtle changes to the exterior and the interior.
The test vehicle was spied in a disguised avatar in a bid to hide the new changes. However, from the visible changes we get to know that the latest iteration of the Nano will get a smoked head lamp unit, chrome embellishments and new restyled bumpers at the front and back. The size of the fuel tank is expected to be increased to 24litres.
In all the present models of the Nano, the engine sits at the back and the boot remains shut. In the latest version, the boot has been redesigned for more usable space and for added convenience it is an openable boot lid.
There are changes in the cabin as well which include the new three-spoke steering wheel, wood finish on the centre console and some tweaks to the dashboard for a better feel. They might introduce a new gear lever and different fabric for the seats.
There will be no changes to the powertrain and the new Nano Twist Active will be powered by the same 624cc twin-cylinder petrol motor that produces 38bhp of power and 51Nm of torque. This engine comes mated to a four-speed manual transmission and power is sent to the rear wheels. We wouldn't be surprised if Tata introduces the AMT gearbox in the new vehicle.
As a part of Tata Motors' Horizonext strategy, they had planned to introduce two new models every year. The Bolt hatchback was recently launched and we can expect this refreshed Nano to be the second model for this year.
