Tata Motors recently updated the Nano with power steering and an upmarket interior to help the small car compete better in the hotly contested entry-level small car segment. Now what else can be expected soon besides the long-rumoured diesel version? A Nano with a clever automatic gearbox? Yes, certainly.
The automated manual transmission (AMT) developed by Tata Motors will be seen on the upcoming Zest, eventually followed by a range of models from the company’s line-up. The Nano is also part of this line-up and soon enough it will come equipped with the clever gearbox.
Shown first at the 2014 Auto Expo, held earlier during the year, the upcoming version of the Nano with the AMT has been caught on test, suggesting that the official launch could be ahead of what’s being anticipated thus far.
With the Nano AMT, Tata Motors is looking to further explore the entry-level small car segment. An affordable, easy to drive small car is the ideal way to get round the ever growing traffic menace, after all.
