Tata Motors has now launched the Divo and the Ultra Starbus for the western region. The Divo is priced at Rs 66lakh (ex-showroom, Thane). The Ultra Starbus is priced at Rs 15-22lakh (ex-showrrom, Thane).
Tata began the production of the Divo in February for the northern Indian market and has already sold about 20-25 units of both the buses. Tata has retained the Divo brand name just like the international name. The Ultra Starbus is built as JV with one of the largest bus bodybuilders Macropolo.
Since, the chassis and the body both are built by Tata, it becomes easier to give warranty on the entire unit. With India being the second largest bus market in the world, there is a lot of scope for the bus business.
