Tata Motors, one of the leading car manufacturers in the utility vehicle segment had recently announced its plans to introduce five new products at the upcoming 2018 Auto Expo event in the country. The company claims that of the total five cars to be unveiled, three will be all new passenger car models while the other two might be commercial vehicles. Tata Motors has released the first teaser which is believed to be that of the X451 hatchback.
Based on what can be seen, the X451 and the other new models will be based on the new Tata Impact Design 2.0 theme. Moreover, the upcoming X451 hatchback might be the first model to be built on Tata’s Advanced Modular Platform (AMP). The hatchback will compete in the premium hatchback segment against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Honda Jazz and Hyundai Elite i20. Although technical details will be known at the time of its official unveiling, we believe it might be powered by a 1.2-litre turbo petrol and 1.5-litre diesel from the Nexon.
Apart from the X451 hatchback, Tata is also expected to introduce a five-seater H5 SUV which will compete against the likes of the recently launched Jeep Compass. Reports indicate that Tata might might source a 2.0-litre MultiJet diesel engine from FCA, which coincidentally also powers the Jeep Compass. The vehicle is expected to get multiple driving modes, new-age connectivity options and more. The third passenger car which might be unveiled could either be the Tiago or Tigor Sport which might be powered by a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder, turbo-petrol unit from the Nexon.
More details on Tata’s lineup for the 2018 Auto Expo will be known in the days to come.
