Tata Motors will soon introduce online booking for the Tata Nano in an effort to make the experience of buying the Nano a more convenient one. The company has been on a roll recently with the introduction of eight new facelifts to its line up followed by the launch of their new HORIZONEXT programme.
The Nano is yet to meet the expectations of the company in terms of sales figures, which average at close to 2000 units a month despite being portrayed as the ‘common man’s car’. The Nano’s new promotional campaign and the introduction of online sales gives an impression that the company has decided to shift its target audience to the youth.
The company has already carried out pilot tests for online bookings and has now decided to roll out the full-fledged booking facility on their official website. The feature allows the buyer to pay the booking amount for the car and get the car delivered at their doorstep or at the nearest dealer. We understand that the payment will be a normal ecommerce transaction, but it is not sure how Tata will manage area specific dealer or discounts on how one can track their orders though this system, but the approach though is definitely innovative.
