- To be launched along with other EVs
- Will be a feature-packed premium EV
Tata Motors has announced that the Avinya will be the new aspirational nameplate to grow the EV market in the financial year 2026. There's no confirmation yet but we can expect to see the production versions of this concept by next year.
The Avinya shown at the 2023 Auto Expo was in its concept form but many design elements are expected to be seen upon launch. It will enter the premium all-electric segment and address the key barriers of range and technology by leveraging Acti.ev and EMA. The latter is JLR's platform-sharing arrangement for the development of the Avinya and other EV models that it will spawn.
The Avinya is an example of how Tata Motors wants to adopt a technology-led product evolution. It is said to be driven by insights from three billion km of driving data, will have USPs of a higher range, and offer a new digital device experience. Some key features of the EVs will be high energy density batteries, faster charging, new electric all-wheel drive, vehicle-to-load and vehicle-to-vehicle charging, driving modes, and more. The cars will also boast new-gen displays with EV-specific UI that will have OTA upgradability and a fully connected in-car App Suite.
Needless to say, Tata Motors is also focusing on developing its EV-exclusive channel. It will be done in a phased manner with the outlet locations being identified and finalised through micro-market analysis. These EVs, including the Avinya, will then be offered through these exclusive retail outlets.
