Tata Motors will soon begin with the testing the crossover based on the Hexa concept. The manufacturer unveiled the concept for the first time this year at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show.
The Hexa is an SUV based on theAria. It previews the brand’s future design direction and will be one of the new crossovers and SUVs from Tata Motors. It measures 4,764mm in length, 1,895mm in length and 1,780mm in height. The vehicle has a long wheelbase of 2,850mm, meaning oodles of space inside the cabin.
Similar to the Aria's design, the new car will get projector headlamps, a honeycomb grille and new bumper with fog lamps. The company might equip the car with newly designed 19-inch alloy wheels and there will be some changes at the back. These will include restyled tail lamps with LED units, a rear bumper in a dual-tone paint scheme, a new shape for the reflectors and a new spoiler.
The Hexa concept has a six-seat configuration with captain seats that are expected to be trimmed out in leather. These seats will come with twin-needle stitching and might be offered in beige colour options. The interior might get some new features to up the luxury quotient of the car. The company might introduce LED illumination for ambient mood lighting. Six airbags including side and curtain are expected to be offered as standard in the top-of-the-line variant.
The upcoming Hexa crossover is likely to be powered by a 2.2-litre, four-cylinder, VARICOR diesel mill that churns out 154bhp of power and 400Nm of torque. The powerplant comes mated to a six-speed manual transmission and is available with a 4WD option.
With the tests starting soon, we can expect the Hexa crossover to enter production in early 2016. The production-spec Hexa might be showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo in India.
