Tata Motors’ domestic passenger car sales dipped by a marginal two per cent in September. The company sold 11,774 units last month compared to 11,931 units sold in the same period last year.
The launch of the GenX Nano and the Bolt hatchback brought additional numbers in the small car segment; the numbers increased from 9,766 units last September to 10,226 units. The utility vehicles on the other hand dipped by 28 per cent to 1,548 units.
Tata Motors’ sales should improve next year with the launch of the two new products. The Kite hatchback, which will be positioned just above the Nano to take on the Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 and the Hyundai Eon, will be launched in January. The Hexa MUV will debut at the 2016 Auto Expo to rival the Toyota Innova and the Renault Lodgy.
