Tata Motors Global Group, including Jaguar Land Rover, sold 85,742 vehicles in December 2014. This shows an 8 per cent boost in sales in comparison to the cars sold in the same month in 2013. However, the cumulative sales for the fiscal stood at 7,13,530 units less by 5 per cent than the previous fiscal.
The company sold 55,145 units of all kinds of passenger vehicles in December 2014, registering an 11 per cent increase in sales as against the figures of 2013. For the fiscal, the numbers stood at 4,36,315 units showing a growth of 4 per cent over the last fiscal.
Coming to the global volumes of Tata Motor's passenger vehicles in December alone, the figures showed an increase of 29 per cent with 12,183 units delivered to customers. Nonetheless, with 94,997 units of cumulative sales for the fiscal, the manufacturer sees a decline of 13 per cent in comparison to the last fiscal.
Jaguar Land Rover's cumulative sales for the last month stood at 42,962 units showing a growth of 7 per cent as against sales figures of December 2013. While Jaguar sold 6,816 vehicles in December 2014, Land Rover captured a major chunk of sales with 36,146 units sold in the same month. With 3,41,318 vehicles sold, the cumulative wholesales for Jaguar Land Rover for this fiscal are up by 10 per cent than the last fiscal.
Tata Motors has its business across the globe and that includes the sale of Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles as well. The manufacturer operates in UK, South Korea, Thailand, South Africa and Indonesia; and vehicles are marketed in various countries including Europe, Africa, the Middle East, South Asia, South East Asia, South America, CIS and Russia.
Over the years, Tata Motors has come up with new ventures for not only the passenger car segment but commercial vehicles as well. The automaker has been striving to boost its overseas revenue and lower its dependence on the domestic economy. With many new subsidiaries overseas and new products to be offered in key markets, the company has built a stronger brand image and plans to expand its bandwidth in current and potential markets.
