Tata Motors has managed to better its image in the Indian market with the launch of the new Zest and Bolt. However, the passenger vehicles business unit is still struggling in terms of sales. The company now aims to bring in more crossover SUVs to help better this equation.
The manufacturer plans to launch a range of utility vehicles in our country which will cater to various markets right from the urban areas to rural dwellings. These include products from compact SUVs to rugged offerings to premium crossovers. It is this segment that has managed to capture the Indian buyer’s imagination in recent times and the demand for such vehicles has increased.
In line with this thinking, Tata Motors will bring in about six such products in the coming three to four years. These will include a compact SUV based on the Nexon concept, Hexa Concept, a rugged SUV called Raptor and other joint products between JLR and Tata Motors called the Q501 and Q502. There will also be a seven-seater version on the X1 platform called X107, and a nine-seater model on the X6 platform that is codenamed X602.
With the launch of these vehicles, hopefully, the sales of Tata Motors will grow at a quicker pace and mainly reclaim the spot the manufacturer lost to Mahindra and Mahindra in the past so many years.
