After a successful inaugural run, Tata Motors has announced that the brand is all set for the second season of the T1 Prima Truck Racing. Like before, the action-packed championship will take place at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida.
Tata says its taking things to the next level as the competitors this time will be seen driving lighter, more powerful race-prepped trucks compared to ones used in the inaugural season.
The Prima race-prepped truck will continue to be powered by an 8.9-litre, 6-cylinder Cummins diesel engine albeit with a few performance enhancing tweaks. Paired to a 9-speed gearbox, the six cylinder diesel unit produces 370bhp of maximum power at 2,100rpm and a massive 1,550Nm of peak torque at 1,300rpm.
Tata says the race truck is now lighter by as much 350kilograms when compared to before. Thanks to this, top speed is raised to 130kmph from 110kmph earlier. The brake cooling system, too, has been upgraded with a bigger water tank to improve the efficiency of the brakes.
All in all, six teams will be seen battling out on the track for the second season which will be held during mid-March 2015. Click here to read our experience of the inaugural T1 Prima Truck Racing.
