Tata has managed to sell just 948 units of the Nano in April According to a report from the Economic Times. This is in stark contrast to the 8028 units of the Nano that Tata managed to sell in April 2012 and is 88 per cent decline for the people’s car.
The report also suggests that number from SIAM reveal that Tata sold 53, 848 units of the Nano in the period 2012-2013 as compared to 74, 527 units in 2011-2012. While the industry has been hit overall in the last one year, the numbers reveal that the Nano has been down on its luck for quite a while now.
It is likely that Tata is now working on launching the facelifted Nano as soon as possible to counter the current situation. The facelifted model will also introduce the Garrett sourced turbo diesel engine as well as a CNG mill for the Nano. It should hopefully revive interest in the car.
