The wait is finally over for all the people who have been putting off their car purchase because they've been waiting for the new Indica. We took a short drive at the launch of the Indica Vista and our first impression suggests that it has been well worth the wait. The Indica Vista will co-exist alongside the current Indica, and prices begin at Rs 3.49 lakh for the base petrol variant, and go up to Rs 4.88 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi, for the top-end Quadrajet diesel variant.
The Vista is bigger, yes, but what makes it so enjoyable are the little touches Tata has so thoughtfully incorporated in the car - for instance, soft-touch plastics aren't restricted to the dashboard, they're present on both the front and rear door pads. Another example that illustrates this is the fact that if your wipers are on, the rear wiper is turned on as long as reverse gear is engaged. The two-DIN music player has a USB port, the seats have adjustable height and lumbar support, and the paint looks incredibly lustrous. Tata's done well with the Vista, we think - now we'll have to see what the sales charts say.
