Tata Motors has launched the Zest compact sedan and the Bolt hatchback for the Sri Lankan market. The sedan is priced at 2.81 million Sri Lankan rupees (ex-showroom Rs 13.42 lakh) and the hatchback at 2.299 million Sri Lankan rupees (ex-showroom Rs 10.98 lakh).
The manufacturer has partnered with Sri Lanka-based Diesel & Motor Engineering PLC (DIMO) for the sale of these cars in Sri Lanka. The Zest and the Bolt will be sold through 37 DIMO outlets initially. They are offered with the 1.2-litre four-cylinder Revotron turbocharged petrol engine and the 1.3-litre Fiat-sourced MultiJet diesel engine.
The cars were launched in India last year and tasted a fair bit of success. The design of the vehicles is a conclusion of the best ideas from the three Tata Motors design studios in Pune (India), Coventry (UK), and Turin (Italy). They are a part of Tata's HorizonNext strategy, with three aspects of DriveNext, DesignNext and ConnectNext, where each aspect stands for excitement, looks and connect respectively.
Tata Motors, head International Business, Passenger Vehicles, Johnny Oommen, said, "With the aim to deliver the best of products and services to our customers, we at Tata Motors are delighted to bring two new exciting products in the Sri Lankan market. These two cars, loaded with many segment-leading features, are built to global design and product standards and will appeal equally to the first time buyers as well as existing automobile owners looking for a new and exciting product."
Tata Motors now have added the Zest and Bolt to the Sri Lankan portfolio of cars that includes the Nano, Indica Vista, Indigo eCS, Manza and Safari. We hope the new cars also create a huge excitement in Sri Lanka like they did in India.
