Tata Motors is currently working on replacing its long-running Indica with a completely new model. The model in question is codenamed Kite and it is currently under development, as spotted on test on a number of occasions in the past. This new model is expected to go on sale in the second half of 2015 or early 2016.
As seen these latest spy shots, the Kite will feature a tall-boy design, just like the Indica on which it’s based on. However, on closer inspection the Bolt-derived design elements can be found. The Kite will get completely new headlamps and restyled bumpers. At the rear, revised tail lamps will be placed horizontally unlike the Christmas-tree arrangement on the Indica.
The Kite is expected to make use of a 1.2-litre and a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder diesel engine options. An automated manual transmission (AMT) could also be offered for select variants. When launched, the hatchback could well be placed in between the Nano and the Indica with prices ranging between Rs 3.9 lakh and Rs 4.5 lakh.
