The much awaited replacement for the Tata Indica has been spotted on test yet again, this time showing off its interior design and layout. The model in question is codenamed Kite and its being rigorously tested.
Tata Motors is expected to launch this new model by the second half of 2015.
Despite the heavy camouflage, the design inspiration from the Zest and the Bolt is hard to not miss; the steering wheel and gear lever are the cues here. Like the Zest and the Bolt, the Kite is expected to be thoroughly feature-rich.
As for the exterior design, the Kite will feature a tall-boy design, just like the Indica on which it’s based on. However, on closer inspection the Bolt-derived design elements can be found. The Kite will get completely new headlamps and restyled bumpers. At the rear, revised tail lamps will be placed horizontally unlike the Christmas-tree arrangement on the Indica.
The Kite is expected to make use of a 1.2-litre and a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder diesel engine. An automated manual transmission (AMT) could also be offered for select variants. When launched, the hatchback will be placed in between the Nano and the Indica with prices ranging between Rs 3.9 lakh and Rs 4.5 lakh.
