We just showed you a rendered picture of Tata Kite's new hatchback, and here are the spyshots of the vehicle spied testing in Pune. This hatchback is set to replace the Indica eV2 car by either end of this year or early 2016.
From the new pictures we can deduce that the new car will get new headlamps, tail lamps, redesigned bumpers and a roofline that makes it look a little different from the current range of Tata cars. Just like the Kite compact sedan, the hatchback is also expected to be heavily revamped sporting a new look.
The cabin will also get a new layout similar to the one in the Bolt hatchback. Since this prototype is still in the preliminary stages of testing, it is too early to comment what all features might make it to the production version. However, we can expect the company to equip the vehicle with many new features like in the Bolt and use high quality material in the interior.
The new hatchback will be available in petrol and diesel engine options. Tata Motors might power the new cars with a new three-cylinder petrol motor and a diesel engine. These engines will come mated to a five-speed manual transmission. We can also expect the AMT gearbox to be offered in the top-of-the-line variant.
Tata Motors is following a new strategy of promoting their new cars in a bid to revamp its brand image in India. They started by following this process of replacing their age old cars under a project name and surely have tasted a fair bit of success. The newly launched Zest and Bolt were codenamed 'Falcon' in their preliminary stages of testing and are on sale in our country now. Similarly, the manufacturer is testing the new compact sedan and hatchback under the ‘Kite’ name. The new Kite hatchback will be placed below the Bolt and is expected to offer a good value for money for consumers on a budget.
