Tata's upcoming Kite 5 sedan was spotted on test in Pune recently. The test mule was the top-of-the-line variant of the compact sedan and featured all of the components that the carmaker plans to offer.
A blue exterior paint was seen under the camouflage and the car sported projector headlamps and fog lamps. The Kite 5 is based on the Tiago hatchback and has a good looking fastback kind of silhouette. The interior sported an all-black interior unlike the Tiago with a dual-tone combo. Interestingly, it features a five-inch touch screen Harman infotainment system and automatic climate control that's missing even on other Tata siblings like the Bolt and the Zest.
The engine lineup for the Kite 5 sedan includes Tiago’s 1.2-litre Revotron three-cylinder all-aluminium petrol mill and the 1.05-litre Revotorq three-cylinder diesel engine. These can be had with a five-speed manual gearbox or a five-speed automated manual transmission.
Tata is yet to confirm a launch date for this new compact sedan that was supposed to launch this year. Now, the carmaker seems to be busy preparing for the launch of the upcoming Hexa SUV in January. So we can only expect the compact sedan to be launched post the Hexa. The introduction of the compact sedan is much-awaited as it is expected to be priced very competitively in spite of offering a whole load of new features as against its rivals.
