Following its unveil at the Auto Expo earlier this year, the Tata Kite 5 has been spotted out in the wild. The compact sedan, seen here in a rather nice shade of blue, is due for launch later this year around the festive season.
Dimension wise, the Kite 5 measures in at 3.99 metres and like the Zest, is likely to have a wheelbase of around 2.47 metres. The boot space, meanwhile, will be around 330-litres. Inside, the cabin’s design is based on the Tiago which is a good thing. Not only is the layout of materials easy on the eye, the overall quality is decent as well.
The Kite will be available with both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol is a 1.2-litre three-cylinder unit that produces 83bhp and 114Nm of torque while the diesel is a 1.05-litre unit with 69bhp and 140Nm. Both engines will be offered with a 5-speed manual as standard though there is a possibility of an AMT option for the petrol model.
Tata will price the Kite 5 in the range of Rs 4 lakh to Rs 6 lakh. At that price range, it will compete with the upcoming Chevrolet Essentia.
