The 2016 Auto Expo saw Tata finally taking the wraps off their new compact sedan concept. It has been dubbed the Kite 5 sedan and will be shown in production form later this year.
The Kite 5 is basically the notchback version of the Zica hatchback and shares much of its appearance with the latter.
The front is dominated by a mesh grille while the side has flared wheel arches. The rear gets wrap around tail lamps and a high bumper like its eleder sibling the Zest.
The Kite 5 in this concept form shares much of its cabin with the Zica hatchback and this includes the layout as well as the feature list.
It will be offered the 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine and the 1.05-litre diesel mill. Both engines will be mated to a five-speed manual.
We believe Tata may offer the AMT with at least one variant of the compact sedan for the Indian market
The Kite 5 represents a new segment of compact sedans for the Indian market as it will slot in below cars like the Swift Dzire and Hyundai Xcent and compete with the Chevy Essentia.
