After a long wait and endless speculations, Tata will finally launch its much anticipated Hexa in India tomorrow. The Hexa is the most premium offering from Tata and is a replacement for the Aria crossover. We have driven the Hexa and you can read our first drive review here.
The Hexa follows all of Tata’s latest design philosophy which can be identified via the grille, headlamps and overall silhouette of the vehicle. The interior is a major step-up in terms of features and quality. Tata will provide the Hexa with climate control, touchscreen infotainment system, leather upholstery and soft touch plastics. Offered in either six-seater or a seven-seater configuration, the Hexa will be available in 14 trims which include six automatic and eight manual variants and multiple 4x4 automatic options
Powering the new Hexa will be the 2.2-litre diesel engine in two states of tune. Only the base XE variant will have a Varicor 320 engine producing 148bhp and 320Nm. The Varicor 400, on the other hand, produces 154bhp of power and 400Nm of torque. The Varicor 320 will be available with only two-wheel drive set-up and a five-speed manual transmission. The engines will come mated to either six-speed manual or six-speed automatic. There will be an option of the all-wheel drive system as well with driving modes — Auto, Comfort, Dynamic and Rough Road.
Following the launch, the Tata Hexa will enter into a direct rivalry against Mahindra XUV500 and Toyota Innova Crysta. The pricing the Hexa will be a crucial thing for Tata. We expect Tata to price the Hexa competitively between Rs 13 lakh to Rs 18 lakh.
