A prototype of the upcoming Aria-based Hexa SUV was spotted testing on the Mumbai-Pune expressway by our friends at Powerdrift. This will be one of the new crossovers and SUVs that Tata motors has in its pipeline.
It was at the start of this year when Tata Motors debuted the Hexa concept at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. The company is tight-lipped about the details of the car and no specifications of the production version have been revealed yet. However we expect the camouflaged test mule borrows traits from the Aria-based Hexa SUV concept showcased earlier.
This is a new SUV concept measuring 4,764mm in length, 1,895mm in width and 1,780mm in height and has a long wheelbase of 2,850mm. The car’s fascia, will boast of newly designed projector headlamps, a honeycomb grille and new bumper with fog lamps. The car's horizontal chrome slat under the grille will extend towards the headlamps and the honeycomb pattern can also be seen on the chin.
Coming to the sides, the 19-inch alloy wheels have retained their new design shown in Geneva. Though it is based on the Aria, the new car will get a sporty design language which will be carried over to the rear as well. The pictures don’t reveal the rear profile, but it is expected to get dual exhaust tips and a new shape for the reflectors. The tail lamps will also be restyled and might be equipped with LED units.
The new Hexa will be powered by a 2.2-litre, four-cylinder, VARICOR diesel engine that produces 154bhp of power and 400Nm of torque. This mill comes mated to a six-speed manual transmission and will be available with a 4WD option.
The Tata Hexa that was under wraps till now is finally out on the public roads for test. We can expect Tata Motors to introduce this vehicle for the Indian market at the Auto Expo in 2016.
