Tata has showcased the production version of its Hexa SUV at its stall at the 2016 Auto Expo. The third car to take up the Impact design language, the Hexa is expected to be launched later this year with only a diesel engine option.
The Impact design philosophy means the Hexa gets an aggressive front replete with an aggressive fascia, black mesh grille and curved headlights that flow towards the cabin. The side profile is reminiscent of the Aria but has a different kind of appeal due to the grey colour cladding that runs along the base. The rear gets two-piece tail lamps, low bumper and a window line that slopes towards the front.
The cabin gets leather seats, chrome accents around the air vents, climate control and a touchscreen infotainment system developed by Harman for Tata. The cabin also gets the option of mood lighting of which four colours can be adjusted according to the drive mode.
This production spec Hexa will be powered by the new Varicor400 2.2-litre diesel engine that produces 154bhp and 400Nm of torque. The gearbox option is a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic. The version on display had the 4X4 badging indicating that this car will be available in RWD as well as AWD.
Expect a price range of around 10 lakh to Rs 14 lakh for the top-of-the-line diesel automatic which will be offered at the time of the launch.
