Tata’s forthcoming crossover model has been spied on test again. Called the Hexa, this new model was first shown at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show and is expected to arrive in the Indian market during the 2016 Auto Expo.
The Hexa is first of the all-new breed of SUVs and crossovers currently under development by Tata. The concept shown at Geneva measures 4,764mm in length, 1,895mm in width and 1,780mm in height. Inside, the concept featured a six-seat configuration with captain seats in the middle. Meanwhile, Tata is expected to offer up to six airbags in the production-spec Hexa.
The Hexa is expected to be powered by a 2.2-litre, 4-cylinder, VARICOR diesel engine developing 154bhp of power and 400Nm of torque. The engine will come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox with a 4WD option.
Following the Aria’s debacle in the crossover segment, Tata would be hoping to do much better with the forthcoming Hexa. When launched next year, the Hexa will compete against other crossovers including the Hyundai Creta, Renault Duster and the Mahindra XUV500.
