- To be revealed at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show.
- Based on the same Omega Arc platform as the Harrier.
- The seven-seater SUV will become the most expensive offering from Tata.
Tata Motors has officially teased the upcoming H7X ahead of the public debut at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show. The H7X is basically a seven-seater version of the Harrier which went on sale in India early this year. The H7X will be bigger than Harrier and will be a proper SUV from Tata’s stable.
The seven-seater Harrier will become the most expensive Tata when it goes on sale in India later this year. Based on the same Omega Architecture as the Harrier, the new SUV will be longer by 62mm, but the wheelbase is expected to remain unchanged. There will be larger wheels as well as roof rails and footboards on the H7X to add to its SUV stance. The teaser barely reveals anything except for an upright tailgate as opposed to the raked one on the Harrier.
The cabin will remain more or less unchanged. The motor of the H7X, however, will be more powerful motor than the Harrier’s. The Kryotec diesel motor might have an output that’s similar to the Compass – around 170bhp. Transmission could either be the same six-speed manual or Tata might debut the automatic which will later be offered with the Harrier as well.
The production-ready H7X is expected to go on sale later this year, perhaps during the festive season. Meanwhile, at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, the H7X will join the much-anticipated production-ready version of the 45X hatchback, which was recently named as the Altroz. There might also be a micro-SUV – rumoured to be called the Hornbill –and another electric concept at the Tata’s Geneva stage this year, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
