- The all-new Tata Harrier will hit the market in January 2019.
- Will be based on a new platform, will get a 2.0-litre diesel engine and will come with multiple drive modes.
- The new teaser previews a six-speed manual transmission ahead of the official interior reveal.
Ahead of the official reveal of the Harrier’s interior, Tata has been dropping multiple teasers highlighting special features and equipment. The newest teaser reveals a six-speed manual transmission. This six-speed manual will be sending power to the front wheels of the Harrier. Besides that, according to the reports, it will be the only transmission on offer at the time of introduction. However, it will be joined by a Hyundai-sourced six-speed automatic gearbox at a later date.
The six-speed manual will be mated to a 2.0-litre Kryotec diesel engine which is basically the same MultiJet II diesel from Fiat. It will put out around 140bhp, that's in the same league as the Jeep Compass. The Harrier will make use of the newly-developed OMEGA platform which is derived from JLR’s D8 architecture which underpins the Discovery Sport. The design language of the Harrier is the new IMPACT 2.0 philosophy retaining most of the styling element seen on its H5X Concept.
Other interior teasers reveal that the Harrier will have multiple driving modes selector – normal road mode, off-road mode and wet surface mode. Moreover, it will also offer traction control and hill descent control. Other teasers have revealed features like the JBL sound system, trapezoidal aircon vents and silver door handles with leather wrapped grips. The SUV will also get a floating 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with a dual-tone dashboard with high-quality materials seen all around. A new introduction to the feature list will be a cooled storage area under the front armrest.
More teasers and details of the Harrier will be revealed in the coming days as a run up to the official launch in January next year. Stay tuned to CarWale for all the updates on the Tata Harrier.
