It has been more than 15 years since we saw Tata’s first car, the Indica. The Indica turned the tables for the company and put them on the global map. Tata launched the Vista in 2008 and prefixed the Indica name to it. The Falcon 4 and 5 will be unveiled at the Auto Expo and we hear Tata’s new Falcon 4 will be independent of the Indica name.
A report in an automotive website claims Tata will name its Falcon 4 (the hatchback) the ‘Bolt’. Apart from sounding unusual the name also represents a component widely used in vehicles world over. Tata will continue selling the Vista as the 'Vista Tech’ in our market, and the name Indica has been totally dropped from its line-up.
The Falcon 4 will get a new definition in styling, powertrains and will also get better interiors to take on the competition. Tata will also plonk in the Revotron series of engine in the Vista, but will still use Fiat’s 1.3-litre MJD engine. The power steering unit will be provided by German parts major ZF and it will be an EPS.
The Falcon 4 (Bolt) will be on display at the Tata stall along with the Falcon 5 (name not revealed).
