- New three-cylinder petrol engine
- Car weighs 1.4 tonne
Tata's latest offering is the Curvv, which has a coupe-like styling but is still high off the ground with SUV-like traits. We recently evaluated it through our testing regime for its real-world mileage. Here's how it performed.
Powertrain
This is the 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine called the 'Hyperion' engine. It produces 123bhp and 225Nm of torque and we have sampled the one mated to the six-speed manual transmission. Tata Motors hasn't revealed the official fuel economy/efficiency figures but here's what it delivered in real-world driving conditions.
City mileage
In the city mileage test, the car consumed 7.63 litres of fuel over a distance of 80.6km giving a real-world mileage of 10.56kmpl. The indicated figure on the instrument cluster was 8-11kmpl hinting that the fuel economy would be low. But it's fair enough for a vehicle that weighs 1,400kg alone.
Highway mileage
On the highway, the Curvv took up 5.18 litres of petrol for the highway run of 78.9km. This shows a real-world fuel efficiency on the highway of 15.32kmpl. As a result, the combined mileage of the Curvv petrol manual isn't impressive, but still satisfactory for a heavy yet power-packed car. A driving range of over 600km on a full tank of 44 litres can still be achieved in the real world.
