The Bolt, the much-awaited new hatchback from Tata Motors, will be launched in India on January 22. The bookings for the car commenced recently, and the Bolt can be booked online for an amount of Rs 11,000. It might be priced in the range of Rs 4.25 lakh to Rs 6.5 lakh.
Similar to the Zest, the Bolt is also developed through the inputs from the company's different engineering and design centres located in Pune, Italy and the UK. The vehicle gets a new design language that sets it apart from the current Indian line-up of Tata cars. Since it is one of the manufacturer's products built for the global market, the company has focused on the looks of the car and has equipped it with all the latest features to attract consumers from across the country.
The Tata Bolt's petrol version will be powered by the 1.2-litre turbocharged Multi-point Fuel Injection (MPFi) mill that churns out 90bhp of power and 140Nm of torque. It features three multi-drive options which include Sport, City and Eco modes. The diesel model will be powered by a 1.3-litre Quadrajet unit that produces 75bhp of power and 190Nm of torque. We can expect the diesel AMT to arrive at a later date, but at the time of the launch only the five-speed manual gearbox will be offered on both the petrol and diesel models.
The Bolt will give a good impetus to Tata to carry forward the good momentum the Zest has already created for the manufacturer. The Zest has revamped the image of the brand in India and we hope that the Bolt will push this further.
