The Tata Bolt might be launched for the Indian market on January 20. Tata has already begun online bookings (down payment of Rs 11,000) for the hatchback and we have already driven the car and you can find the link to the first drive and video at the bottom of this story.
The Tata Bolt is the second car from the Mumbai based automaker under its Horizon Next programme. It is expected to be offered in six variants and with two engine options of which only the petrol is expected to be available at the time of the launch. The former is the 1.2-litre Revotron mill that produces 84bhp and 140Nm of torque while the latter is the 1.3-litre Multijet mill that produces 75bhp and 190Nm of torque. Both engines are being offered only with a five-speed manual.
In terms of design, the Bolt offers a lot of modernity thanks to the funky design. However, there is a lot of resemblance to the Indica Vista in terms of overall design. Tata has fitted it with completely new interiors and a significantly upgraded feature list which includes an infotainment system designed by Harmann Kardon.
We expect that Tata will price the Bolt in the range of Rs 4.2 lakh to Rs 6.60 lakh. It will compete with the Hyundai Grandi10, Maruti Suzuki Swift, Chevrolet Sail hatchback and the Ford Figo.
