Tata Motors have announced that the upcoming new Bolt hatchback can be booked online for a booking amount of Rs 11,000. The company has started the bookings and prospective buyers can book the Bolt by logging onto their website.
Like the Zest, the Bolt hatchback also gets a new design language. The design of the car is a conclusion of the best ideas from the three Tata Motors design studios in Pune (India), Coventry (UK), and Turin (Italy). The Bolt is also a part of Tata's HorizonNext strategy, with three aspects of DriveNext, DesignNext and ConnectNext. According to the company, it is bound to attract the youth, with each aspect standing for excitement, looks and connect.
The carmaker collaborated with MapMyIndia for the use of GPS navigation technology in the Bolt. The GPS navigation technology allows the navigation application in the user’s smart phone to sync with the Bolt's head unit. Apart from this, the top-of-the-line versions of the Bolt will be equipped with a high-end Harman infotainment system that should also appeal to the tech-savvy youth.
The Tata Bolt will be available in both petrol and diesel engine options. The 1.2-litre turbocharged Multi-point Fuel Injection (MPFi) petrol Engine produces 90bhp of power and 140Nm of torque. It features three driving modes - Sport, City and Eco that modulate the ECU maps for performance and efficiency. The oil-burner is a 1.3-litre Quadrajet mill that churns out 75bhp of power and 190Nm of torque. We can expect the diesel AMT to arrive at a later date, but at the time of the launch only the five-speed manual gearbox will be offered on both the petrol and diesel models.
The Tata Zest has tasted quite a fair bit of success as it recently surpassed the sale of Honda Amaze and is catching up with the Hyundai Xcent. The Bolt is expected to mirror the Zest’s success when it goes on sale in the New Year.
