Tata Motors has launched websites for its upcoming Bolt hatchback and the Zest compact sedan. The websites are very informative with ample pictures and all requisite details on the cars. The advent of the website indicates the launch is just round the corner.
The Indian automaker had created quite a buzz surrounding the two cars when they were unveiled during the Auto Expo and it is wise to strike when the iron is hot. Essentially the Bolt hatchback is the Vista with a makeover, the Zest is an all-new product with a small tubby boot to qualify for the excise concessions.
The cars will share the powertrains and transmissions and for the first time ever, Tata has shown some aggression in developing petrol motors. The vehicles are likely to be powered by the four-cylinder 1.2-litre turbocharged Revotron motor and the 1.3-litre Fiat source MultiJet diesel mill.
Both cars will get a standard five-speed manual gearbox, however, the Zest is likely to get an AMT gearbox as well. The Bolt will battle it out with the premium segment hatchbacks like Maruti Swift and the Hyundai i20, whereas the Zest will take on the Maruti Dzire, Honda Amaze and the recently launched Hyundai Xcent.
Tata has worked really hard to give its cars the appeal, now a lot will depend upon how they price it. We believe, Tata may surprise us by pricing both these cars on par or higher than the competition.
