A new set of teaser images of the upcoming Tata Altroz were leaked earlier today. The teaser reveals some of the features that are set to make their way into the Altroz.
For instance, the Tata Altroz will come equipped with a cruise control system, ambient mood lighting and a Tata Harrier-like TFT colour driver information display. One of the teaser images also reveals that the premium hatchback will feature a ninety-degree opening for the front doors.
On the other hand, another teaser shows 'bookings open', which means the company will soon commence taking bookings for the Altroz. The car will also get a floating island touchscreen infotainment display and a flat-bottom steering wheel.
Tata Altroz will be the first car to be based on the modular ALFA platform, which will also spawn the H2X-based sub-compact SUV, and possibly, a sedan as well. Tata Motors is also working on the Altroz EV, which debuted alongside the regular hatchback at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show.
Under the hood, it will be offered with a choice of petrol and diesel engines. The Geneva-spec model used a 1.2L turbocharged petrol motor that made 100bhp and 140Nm. There will also be a 90bhp 1.5L diesel motor on offer. A six-speed manual gearbox is expected to be standard. However, an automatic transmission is unlikely to be offered at the launch.
The Tata Altroz will compete against other premium hatchbacks like Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Volkswagen Polo, Toyota Glanza, Hyundai Elite i20 and Honda Jazz. It is expected to be priced between Rs 5-9 lakhs (ex-showroom).
