-Premium hatchback from Tata
-Showcased as the 45X concept at the 2018 Auto Expo
The Tata Altroz was spied undisguised recently, ahead of a potential debut later this year. It’s the Indian automaker’s premium hatchback and this is a new segment that Tata is entering for the first time.
The photos reveal that Tata has stuck to most of the design cues of the 45X concept. You can see the signature Tata grille as well as the familiar body shape associated with Tata’s hatchbacks. Also unique here is the design of the alloy wheels, the flared wheel arches as well as the pillar mounted rear door handles. We already know that the Altroz will get a semi-digital instrument cluster, driving modes and cruise control.
When the Altroz was showcased at the 2019 Geneva (as the 45X concept) Tata only released information about the car getting
a turbocharged 1.2-litre petrol. However we expect that, in the case of India, Tata will offer a diesel powertrain as well, which in this case will be the 1.5-litre unit found in the Nexon.
The Tata Altroz is a rival to the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai Elite i20, Honda Jazz and the Volkswagen Polo.
