Tata Motors recently rechristened their hatchback, codenamed 45X, as the Altroz. Named after a sea bird, the Altroz is due for launch later this year. The upcoming vehicle was spotted on test in India ahead of its debut at the Geneva Motor Show 2019. The vehicle is expected to be based on the Alpha platform. Moreover, it is likely to be launched in India before introducing it in the European markets.  Â
Mechanical details for the Tata Altroz are not known for now, however, it is likely to be powered by 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine option. Transmission options will include a five-speed manual and AMT. The premium hatchback will be packed with modern features in the form of cruise control, automatic climate control, multiple driving modes and touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.   Â
According to a few reports, the Altroz might be offered with a mild-hybrid system. Post launch, the vehicle will compete against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Honda Jazz, Volkswagen Polo and the Hyundai Elite i20.
