Its official! The 45X hatchback will be called the Altroz. The name is avian inspired and is based on the Albatross, a long distance travelling sea bird. In Tata’s parlance this nomenclature has been brought in to denote agility, performance and efficiency.
The Tata Altroz will be officially unveiled at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show and is the Indian automaker’s premium hatchback to rival against the likes of the Hyundai Elite i20, Honda Jazz, Maruti Baleno and the Volkswagen Polo. The car was spotted testing many times since the concept debuted at the Expo and we even know what the interiors and instrument cluster will look like thanks to leaked images. It was unveiled in concept form as the 45X hatchback at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo and will be the first vehicle off Tata’s Alfa-Arc platform.
Commenting on the name reveal of the Altroz, Mayank Pareek, President, Passenger Vehicle Business Unit, Tata Motors said “We are extremely elated to announce the name of our upcoming model, which will redefine the premium hatchback segment for the industry.
