Tata Motors has announced their partnership with Microsoft to build connected cars that will offer future Tata buyers a personalised driving experience. The announcement comes before the Geneva Auto Show on March 7, where the new Tata car to be showcased will also demonstrate the first product of the Tata-Microsoft alliance.
Microsoft has been working globally on connected and autonomous cars and their expertise in artificial intelligence, advanced machine learning and Internet of things (IOT) will help transform the in-car infotainment system into an advanced human-machine interface replete with predictive suggestions for advanced navigation as well as telemetry.
The new system will also log vehicle data to the Azure cloud, Microsoft’s proprietary cloud-based solution, and will provide vehicle analysis and help in preventive maintenance and also to provide appropriate breakdown maintenance with advanced diagnostic. Tata says the technology will allow car makers to find post-production flaws and will ease the process of fault-finding as well as recalls.
For the general user, car infotainment interface will be simplified and intuitive and will provide an array of functions. The infotainment software can be updated automatically through the cloud based system, thus offering more applications and functions on the go without the need of tinkering with the systems. Advanced navigation will provide satellite based real-time update of road and traffic conditions allowing you to choose the most efficient route.
Guenter Butschek, CEO & MD, Tata Motors, said, “With the aim to develop innovative and technologically leading products that excite customers, we at Tata Motors, understand the need for a connected ecosystem that can integrate into the digital lives of customers. We are using Microsoft’s connected vehicle technologies on Azure intelligent cloud to bring the digital lives of our customers into the cars they drive. Making the most of fast-paced innovation cycle that Microsoft has to offer, we will create a fully connected and seamless driving experience for our customers.”
