Merely 20 days after the diesel version of the Maruti Suzuki SX4 was launched, the company has already received 5000 bookings. Shashank Srivastava, Chief General Manager, Marketing, Maruti Suzuki India, said, "We have received an overwhelming response for the SX4 diesel. Our target was 2000 units per month but with this kind of response we will have to work harder to cater to the demand."
Both of Maruti's plants; Gurgaon and Manesar, have a combined production capacity of 1.2 million cars a year. The company plans to open another plant (an extension to the Manesar plant) which will hold a capacity of 2.5 lakh cars a year. Maruti has said that the plant will be operational in Q1 next year. With new cars like the all-new Swift in the pipeline, and a new plant at a near operational stage, Maruti Suzuki is chalking out a plan to meet the increasing demand.
