Post its global debut at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, the all-new YRA hatchback is scheduled to arrive at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show in September. What’s new is that Suzuki will showcase the production-ready YRA in Frankfurt as the new Baleno.
In the run up to the global debut, Suzuki has even released a teaser video revealing the side profile as well as certain bits of the front and rear design.
While the concept shown in Geneva measured 4023mm in length, 1920mm in width, 1450mm in height and featured a 2520mm wheelbase, the production-spec model is expected to retain the same footprint. Meanwhile, powering it will be the 1-litre BOOSTERJET turbocharged petrol engine which, Suzuki says, is an entirely new engine.
Full details on the new Baleno will be released closer to its unveiling on September 15 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The vehicle will be sold in several global markets including India where it will be positioned above the Swift; however, what’s not certain at the moment is whether Maruti Suzuki will adopt the Baleno nameplate considering that the old Baleno sedan had a tough time surviving in the Indian market back in mid-2000.
